How to save our planet.
The facts may seem grim but our planet is not yet un-fixable. By altering our everyday live slightly we can help change our eery future.Change little things you do in your everyday life. Small things can make a huge difference. You don't have to give up everything that you like and are used to. Read up on things that you can substitute that won't use as much energy or resources as the things you're currently using; doing this can lower your the CO2 emissions and energy usage without causing you to lower your lifestyle.
List of changes that could be made in your lifestyle:
1.Turn off the light whenever you leave the room, even if you are going to go back in a couple of minutes. It saves energy and saves fossil fuels, which are un-renewable. Fluorescent or LED lighting is more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs.
2.Don’t have unnecessary energy running when you won’t use or need it. Switch off that DVD player, and limit your TV to only about 2 hours a day (maximum!). This can be a big ask for some but if everyone chips in it could change the planet.
3.Keep heaters off when it's not extremely cold. If it's cold, wear extra clothing. Heaters take up alot of energy so do not use them often.
4.Reduce the amount of waste that is being produced, use things more than once, and give things to others that you don’t want any more. Don’t go shopping every weekend or when you get the chance to (you can reduce the amount of waste in packaging by not shopping more than 2 times a month). Plastics and most packaging are made out of fossil fuels which are non-renewable so try to reuse them if possible.
5.Recycle more. Paper, cardboard and cards can be made into something new. Put them into your recycling bin and make sure the contents are collected when full.
6.Plant more trees. Trees take the CO2 out of the air and turn it into oxygen.
Some big things:
1. Invest in a hybrid car. Petrol and diesel creates a lot of CO2. If you use a car powered electrically it means less CO2 is being put into our atmosphere. It may even cost less in the long run.
2. Start a petition. A petition for changing the plastic bags into recycled paper bags at your local supermarket is a great way to get people aware of greenhouse gases an global warming.
Alot of country's are currently using coal as a form of power creation. Coal combustion creates huge amounts of CO2 which is terrible for the environment There are many renewable ways of making energy. For example wind power, which harness the energy from the wind and turns it into usable power. It is very hard to completely change to renewable resources though as so many lives will be affected. But if we do not change soon we may not have a world to live in.
Global warming can be stopped with your help. It may not seem like much, but the little things can make a huge difference. Our planet will soon become un-inhabitable if we do not change fast. So start making a difference today.
